Forks

In BMX racing, the fork is a critical component that dictates how a bike handles, steers, and absorbs the impact of a high-speed track. Positioned at the very front of the bike, the fork holds the front wheel in place and acts as the direct link between the rider’s handlebars and the ground.

Because racing requires a balance of extreme rigidity for sprinting and dampening for landings, fork technology has evolved significantly:

• Carbon Fiber Forks: The top choice for serious racers. Carbon forks are incredibly stiff and lightweight, allowing for precise steering and better vibration absorption. They are engineered to handle high "G-forces" without flexing, ensuring every bit of the rider's energy goes into forward momentum.

• Chromoly (Steel) Forks: Known for their legendary durability and "feel." High-end chromoly forks are usually heat-treated and tapered to save weight while maintaining a slight flex that some riders prefer for a more forgiving ride on rougher tracks.

• Steerer Tube Sizes: Forks come in different diameters to match the frame’s head tube, typically 1" for Junior/Expert bikes and 1-1/8" (or tapered 1-1/8" to 1.5") for Pro-sized builds.
