Raising the bar (guide to BMX bars)

Raising the bar (guide to BMX bars)

Jon Powell |

So you think you need new bars for your BMX race bike. There are a few things to think about:

  • Material - usually aluminium (light) or carbon (lighter and more expensive)
  • Width - you want bars about the same width as your hands would be to do a regular press up. Remember you can cut down bars (aluminium and carbon) with the right tool.
  • Rise - or height. You don’t want to lean too far forward that you can’t keep your head up on the gate. But the height should be comfortable for effective pumping. You can adjust the height of your bars by using a different stem (front versus top loader) or by using spacers above or below your stem. Ask your coaches for input on what size bars you need.
  • Colour/style - you want something that fits the style of your bike.

Take a look at our bars in the Bars collection. There will be options to fit all budgets. And if you aren’t sure please do reach out to us on Instagram, WhstsApp or via email.
